Still time to take part in Elgin transport survey

Press release   •   Jul 24, 2016 09:00 BST

The public still have more than a week to take part in a survey which will help in developing a new transport strategy for Elgin.

There has been a very encouraging response to the survey since it was launched last month and a series of drop-in sessions held at the St Giles Centre also attracted a great deal of interest.

The need for a transport strategy was agreed by councillors following the scrapping of plans for an Elgin western link road earlier this year.

So far the survey has attracted more than 450 responses on a wide range of transport-related issues and these will help to inform the strategy.

A Moray Council spokesman said: “It is vitally important that we hear the views of those people who travel to, in and around Elgin, particularly the problems and issues they face and what people think could be done to improve their journeys..

“The response to the survey has been very good and we are extremely grateful to those who have already given us their views and comments.

“The survey remains open until the end of July and we would urge those who have not yet responded to do so to ensure their voices are heard.”

The survey can be accessed at and paper versions are also available at the Moray Council access point in Elgin, Elgin library and Moray Leisure Centre. Comments can also be e-mailed to

Moray Council area stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Forres in the west. The council and its 4,500 employees respond to the needs of 95,510 residents in this beautiful part of Scotland, which nestles between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live.

Headquartered in  Elgin, the administrative capital of Moray.
