LOSSIEMOUTH High School pupils got hands on at an Early Learning & Childcare (ELC) careers roadshow on Friday 23 February.

The interactive exhibition, held at the school, showcased careers in the ELC sector and provided S3, S4 and S5 pupils with a chance to find out more about the jobs available alongside the pathways into ELC.

With the Scottish Government's ELC expansion bringing more jobs in nursery education to Moray, the roadshow was a timely introduction to potential careers in the sector.

Linda Brown, Head Teacher at Lossiemouth High School, said the pupils enjoyed the interactivity of the event.

“They gained a great insight into the career options in the sector – there are real opportunities in nursery education in Moray just now so this has given our students a taste of what could be for them.”

ELC ambassador, Alastair Davidson from Stramash, was on hand to guide pupils through a day in the life of a nursery. He said it was great to see so many pupils interested in a career in Early Learning and Childcare.

“It really is a most rewarding job. Every day is different, and what better career to have than educating our youngest learners while encouraging them to flourish?”

A similar exhibition aimed at career changers and returners to work will be touring the country later this year.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
